What is Light tape?

Light Tape employs a radically distinctive and patent-protected form of electroluminescent technology. It exists in the form of ultra-low-profile, lightweight panels and strips that seamlessly and evenly illuminate from edge to edge. The philosophy behind the product is simple: a light’s physical design should not restrict design or artistic vision. With Light Tape, you have the possibility to turn anything into the light. That’s where our specifics stop and your creativity starts.

how light tape® works

Compared to alternate EL technologies, no one comes close to our quality. We start by employing only the best materials to deliver shocking performance. We have a unique manufacturing process, a departure from traditional batch silk screening. Would you want your light made on the same machine as a t-shirt screen printer? We don’t either, but that is how most alternate lamps are made.

NOVEL CHEMISTRY

Light Tape®’s one-of-a-kind chemistry is protected by numerous patents. Our material’s layers are bonded at the chemical level, producing a brighter, more durable lighting source. Light Tape® is a true solid state system. Other EL producers glue the rear electrode to the material, which easily separates with exing or temperature changes, leading to electrical failure.

BEST MATERIALS

Only the best phosphors and conductive lms are used in Light Tape®. The combination produces
a brighter, more durable light that uses less energy. Other EL producers use low grade phosphors and poor conductive materials resulting in non- uniformity of brightness and poor
energy ef ciency, not to mention much shorter lifetimes.

AMERICAN MADE

Light Tape® is manufactured in the United States under strict quality control standards. Our own proprietary production methods create an electroluminescent light source unlike any other in the world. We are producing a lamp that is built to last, able to withstand the toughest applications.

UNPRECEDENTED LIFETIMES

We are producing a lamp that is built to last, able to withstand the toughest applications. There are dozens of things that cause a lamp to fail, but most do not affect Light Tape®.


Energy Consumption

We don’t burn electricity, we store it for a millisecond and release it as light. Our unique low energy design consumes less than 1 watt per linear meter at 2.54 cm wide (0.3 watts per linear foot at 1 inch wide) with even illumination and at equal brightness across the surface. This makes Light Tape® 40% more efficient than LEDs and 60% more efficient than standard florescent bulbs. The only thing you’re sacrificing is the bulkiness. And the heat. That’s right, Light Tape® stays cool to the touch. Since the energy goes towards the light and not the heat, operation is very cost effective. Pair this with a real-life 40,000 hour lifetime rating, and we’re raising the bar all over the place.


Color Options

Light Tape is available in a variety of colors. Our natural base colors are Classic Natural Blue andExtreme Blue-Green. We can even make a custom color for you if desired, but we ask that a minimum volume is purchased.

Our patented electroluminescent technology protects encapsulated phosphors from moisture and sunlight. Your extrusion arrives fitted in the mounting channel with connector already attached and shrink wrapped like in the photo to the right.

Snap-N-Light™ Channel and Clip Measurements

When specifying our Snap-N-Light™ extrusion into your design,t is important to consider the extra length added to the extrusion. The connector and shrink tube will add approximately 5.0 inches of length to your total length. Because we are constantly improving our technology please contact our lighting guru for exact measurements.

Please allow an additional 5.5” when determining the dimensions of your Light Tape’s              Snap-N-Light™ system. This 5.5” accounts for 4.5 inches for the Light Tape® Connector and strain relief, 1/2” for wire flex, and 1/2” for the area between the end of the lit area and the end of the extrusion.

 

The 2” wide Light Tape® Snap-N-Light™ system employs two connection points for optimal performance. Please allow an additional 5.5” when determining the dimensions of your Light Tape’s Snap-N-Light™ system.
